坂東商店 Bando shoten
since 1914
空海が歴史上の空白の期間を過ごしたとされる徳島・高越山の麓のかつて賑わいのあった商店街。阿波忌部の里、吉野川市は旧麻植郡山川町で、曾祖父の創業110年、築93年の坂東商店は、町の便利な万屋（よろずや）として、お米や塩も専売で戦時中も配給をしていました。
昭和初期の吉野川水系川田川の氾濫により堤防ができて道路面が高くなったことで、建物の一階部分の半分が土に埋められ、店も衰退し、空き家29年となるこの建物は、基礎の土台や柱は朽ちて、瀕死の状態となっていました。
建物が解体される危機をなんとか再生させたい！と大がかりな古民家改築工事をいたしました。
屋号はそのままに「坂東商店guest room～藍染めの宿～」として、この建物が記憶する町の風景を蘇らせたい！場づくりから地域づくりに繋げたい！再び交流の拠点にするべく、リノベーションし、この川田の地域が阿波藍の発祥とされるほど盛んだった藍染めの体験宿として、再び息を吹き込みます。
A once-bustling shopping street at the foot of Mt. Kōtsuzan in Tokushima, where Kukai is said to have spent a blank period in history. Yoshinogawa City, the village of Awainbe, is the former Yamakawa Town in Aue District, and my great-grandfather's 110-year-old 93-year-old Bando Shoten was a convenient manya in the town, selling rice and salt exclusively and distributing it during the war.
In the early Showa period, the flooding of the Kawada River in the Yoshino River system caused the embankment to be built and the road level to be raised, so half of the first floor of the building was buried in the soil, the shop declined, and the foundation and pillars of this building, which had been vacant for 29 years, were decaying and dying.
I want to somehow revive the danger of buildings being demolished! We did a large-scale renovation work of an old folk house.
I want to keep the name of the shop as it is, but as "Bando Shoten Guest Room ~ Indigo Dyeing Inn ~", I want to revive the scenery of the town that this building remembers! I want to connect it from place creation to community development! In order to make it a base for exchange again, it will be renovated and re-energized as an indigo-dyed experience inn that is said to be the birthplace of Awa indigo.

80年前 横浜で戦災に遭い、大阪から移住し、徳島の県南 海陽町での40年余り、亡夫の稼業、肌着屋（株）トータスの専務取締役として販売促進に取組み、65歳の頃に巡り会った薬草としての”藍”。染めることで遠赤外線効果、抗菌消臭効果があると知り、無農薬栽培の染料で染色から商品づくりまで。
この植物の 衣食住に係る 奥深く幅広い可能性を知り、藍の伝道師として、2020年より北海道に移住。
また農福連携の埼玉福興（株）の顧問として グリーンケア分野で福祉の藍を取組み、今後、グリーンツーリズムで広域連携する。
この度、吉野川市山川町に移住「坂東商店guest room～藍染めと宿～」の藍事業部で更なる研究開発、薬草としての藍を追求し低温発酵藍に取組む。
Etsuko Kameda
80 years ago, Yokohama suffered war damage and moved from Osaka. She spent more than 40 years in Kaiyo-cho, south of Tokushima Prefecture, working on sales promotions as the managing director of her late husband's business, the underwear shop Tortoise Co., Ltd., when she was 65 years old. "Indigo" as a medicinal herb. I learned that dyeing has a far infrared effect and antibacterial deodorizing effect, so I started dyeing and manufacturing products using dyes grown without pesticides. Learning about the deep and wide-ranging possibilities of this plant for food, clothing, and shelter, he moved to Hokkaido in 2020 as an indigo evangelist. In addition, as an advisor to Saitama Fukuko Co., Ltd., which collaborates with agriculture and welfare, he is working on welfare in the green care field, and will collaborate widely in green tourism in the future. This time, I moved to Yamakawa-cho, Yoshinogawa City, and worked at the indigo division of ``Bando Shoten Guest Room ~Aizome to Yado~'' to further research and develop indigo as a medicinal herb, and work on low-temperature fermentation indigo.

久保田紀子（クボタノリコ） プロフィール 東京・神楽坂で2008年より、建築デザイン事務所(株)ハテナバコの代表、主に住宅や店舗などの企画デザイン設計施工を手がける二級建築士、省エネ建築診断士、インテリアデザイナー。 2016年に空き家利活用の古民家再生事業計画、麻植山川の商家再生”おえいちプロジェクト”構想し、徳島県吉野川市山川町の曽祖父の創業109年、築92年の万屋（よろずや）坂東商店の商家再生リノベーション工事中、「坂東商店guest room～藍染めと宿～」として藍染め体験のできる古民家ゲストハウスを2024年3月15日オープン予定。 2011年の311震災以降、”余剰資源の再生”をテーマに、ワークショップ支援チーム“つくるプロジェクト”を主宰。東北てしごとプロジェクトを継続支援し、福島相馬の作り手さんたちとアップサイクルのモノづくりに取り組む。 （一社）Passive House Japan賛助会員、日本民家再生協会（JMRA）会員、（一社）忌部文化研究所の東京事務局、（一社）藍産業振興協会会員、東京大田区の成田山圓能寺にてお寺マルシェ”大森山王えんにち”を運営。
